Jenny Lane

Solo Cornet

A committed and loyal bands person, Jenny began learning to play the cornet at the age of 7. Her playing journey started when her sister borrowed a cornet from the local brass band, Chepstow Town Band. Jenny took an immediate liking to the instrument and fancied a go herself.

Playing in Chepstow Town band became a family affair, with Jenny's sister, brother and father all joining the band and learning together. Jenny progressed up through the ranks to become principle cornet.

At the age of 17, Jenny joined Bream Silver Band on front row cornet gaining her first experience of Brass band contesting. She continued to play with Bream for 15 years, contributing to the band's progression through the sections from fourth up to second. For her final 6 years with Bream, Jenny led the band as principal cornet, as the band became firmly established in the second section.

Jenny then went on to play with BTM band for 3 years, contributing to the band's successful promotion to the Championship, before her relocation to the Bristol/Bath area saw her make the move to Brunel Brass in 2025.
