Chris Lloyd

Bass Trombone

Chris is a chartered engineer and runs his own structural engineering practice. He lives near Oxford with his wife Laura and their two children, Phillip and Florence. Phillip plays cornet with the Rising Stars Band, and Florence has recently joined the Beginners Band.

Chris’s journey into music began at the age of four as a member of the Kentwood Junior Choir. At age nine he took up piano and trombone after being inspired by his school teacher Bob Pattenden. He went on to master both instruments under the tutelage of Sheila Harrod and Chris Niblett, the latter of whom encouraged Chris to join his first instrumental ensembles at Swindon Young Musicians.

By the time he finished school, Chris had completed his grades in both instruments, in addition to theory of music. Since then, he has showcased his musical talent across various platforms, performing with numerous amateur orchestras, big bands, and concert ensembles. Notably, he has been an integral member of Brunel Brass since 2010, contributing his expertise both as a performer and as a tutor within Brunel's Academy, where he assists the Beginners Band.
